Born in Tinsukia(Assam) on 25th August 1988, Manish spent the first 2 years in Dibrugarh with his parents and Family, He had to move to Kolkata soon as his Father shifted for Business.
Manish completed his studies in Kolkata and faired well in class 10 and 12 Exams and completed his Bcom "Hons" Graduation from Bhawanipore College.
How did he get into Snooker ?
One day after School he visited a pool club and got his hands onto the Green baize. Having a passion for carrom board since childhood, Manish took over to pool and then Snooker/Billiards as they both give him a similar feeling. He then used to go to play pool everyday and it got him so addicted that he took it up very seriously. Manish then joined the Y.M.C.A club, College Branch at vivekananda road and learned the game there.
How did he take it up as a Profession ?
He had paired up with another player of the club to participate in a Doubles Tournament and he ended up winning the Tournament which gave him a boost in taking up Billiards & Snooker as his Profession.
After 2 years of playing at the club he went on to win a Silver Medal at the State Junior Snooker Championship hence went on to Represent West Bengal at the National Championships.
On an interaction with the media, Manish said he wanted to become a Doctor, but after he started playing Snooker he just fell in love with it.
His biggest support is his Dad and his elder brother Rakesh who lives in Mumbai and has been encouraging him to play the sport at the highest level.
