Snooker’s top players will be heading back to the Emirates Arena in Glasgow in December for the Scottish Open.
The inaugural world ranking tournament took place last year and it was Marco Fu who captured the Stephen Hendry Trophy by beating home favourite John Higgins in the final.
This year’s event runs from December 11-17 with 128 of the world’s best players contesting the title. And tickets are on sale now.
Top stars including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy and home favourites Higgins, Stephen Maguire, Alan McManus and Anthony McGill were among the line up last year. Once again a stellar field of the sport’s top players is expected to enter and battle for the title.
The Scottish Open, televised live by Eurosport, is the third of the season’s Home Nations series and carries a top prize of £70,000.
And any player winning all four Home Nations events will also earn a massive £1 million bonus. So if a player wins both the English and Northern Ireland Opens he will head to Glasgow dreaming of that unprecedented prize.
Four-time World Champion Higgins, currently ranked second in the world, said: “It was a great experience for me to get to the final last year, I got so much support and it was a brilliant week. I was gutted to lose in the final but hopefully I can go one better next time. The Emirates is a cracking venue and I’d love to see even more fans turning out this time to see the best players.”
