World Grand Prix: How the players qualified

The 32 players qualified from a one-year ranking list. Unlike the official world ranking list which is calculated over a rolling two-year period, the one-year ranking list used to determine qualification for Preston includes only prize money earned since the start of this season at the 2017 Riga Masters, through to and including the 2018 Shoot Out in Watford. This does not include prize money earned from maximum or high break prizes, or invitational events such as the Hong Kong Masters.

Five-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan tops that list and he will face Robert Milkins on the opening evening of the tournament. In the same session, Luca Brecel faces a match against Michael Georgiou, who earned a place with a dramatic victory in the final counting event, the Coral Shoot Out.

World Grand Prix History: Past Finals
The Ladbrokes World Grand Prix is one of snooker's newest events and was staged for the first time in 2015, when Judd Trump beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7 in the final in Llandudno. Shaun Murphy defeated Stuart Bingham in a final-frame decider at the same venue 12 months later but in 2016 the event has moved to Preston's Guild Hall.

Ronnie O'Sullivan wins his 32nd ranking snooker title by thrashing Ding Junhui 10-3
