LINES LIFTS WORLD SENIORS CROWN

Peter Lines overcame Stephen Hendry and John Parrott, to clinch the Snooker Legends World Seniors Championship and book a spot in qualifying for this year's Betfred World Championship. The win sees Lines, who last competed at the Crucible in 1998, receive a WPBSA invite for the upcoming qualifiers at Ponds Forge.

It was an impressive day of snooker from the 47-year-old from Leeds, who was faced with the prospect of a semi-final tie with seven-time World Champion Stephen Hendry. Lines reached the last 32 of this season's UK Championship, beating defending champion Neil Robertson along the way. His match sharpness showed against Hendry, as he knocked the Scot out 3-0.

1991 World Champion John Parrott stood in his way in the final. Once again Lines looked to have the more clinical edge as he recorded his second whitewash of the day, a 4-0 win, to lift the crown and bag the £10,000 top prize.
