Pankaj Advani wins the Grand Double of World Billiards 2018
Indian cueist Pankaj Advani, who won the World Billiards 150-Up Championship on this Thursday, has now bagged World Billiards Long-Up Championship also to make it Grand Double of the year 2018. Today he defeated his compatriot and sparring partner Bhaskar Balachandra by huge victory margin.
Advani was on roll since the beginning of first session and started up with breaks of 190, 171 198 to take handsome lead over Bhaskar.
On the other-side, Bhaskar was missing the regular shots and in total span of final match, he managed to make only two breaks i.e. 64 and 58.
Because of that initial lead, the second session was comparatively easy for Advani and he let it flow the way it was rolling. He made breaks of 165, 92, 66, 66, 89 and 134 to accomplish the task.
Another Indian player Sourav Kothari and Englishman David Causier shared joint Bronze for Long-Up format.
The 150-Up format Prize distribution ceremony was grace Dr. Myint Htwe, Union Minister for Health and Sport of Myanmar and Dr. Mya Lay Sein, Deputy Minister for Health and Sports of Myanmar alongwith Vice President of IBSF Mr. Jim Leacy.
Dr. Myint Htwe in his speech welcomed all the participants of 2018 IBSF World Billiards and World Snooker Championships in Myanmar and wished them a pleasant stay during the competition. He also requested all the participants to visit different parts of Yangon to experience the beautiful culture of Myanmar.
The IBSF Vice President thanked Government of Myanmar and Myanmar Billiards and Snooker Federation for hosting this event in Yangon and making a pleasant stay for everyone. He also thanked all the sponsors associated with these championships and assured all best help to MBSF for hosting such events in future as well.
