To the world billiards champion!
Born on November 16, 1984 in the city of Kolkata, Sourav Kothari brought its country fame on several occasions, but the entire nation beamed with pride on October 26th, 2018 when he won the title of World Billiards Champion after defeating Peter Gilchrist of Singapore 1134-944 to clinch the 2018 WBL World Billiards Championship title in Leeds. Earlier in the semis, Kothari steered his way to a dramatic victory in the dying minutes of the game over six-time world champion David Causier of England 1317-1246. He made us proud last year as well when he won gold in billiards at Asian Indoor Games at Ashgabat, Turkmensitan, defeating Praprut Chaitanasakun of Thailand by 3-1. The right hand master cueist represented India at World U21 Snooker Championship in the year 2002, and thus began the journey of a star to make his nation proud on every second occasion!
On his birthday, RKG Snookers wishes Sourav Kothari a long, healthy and prosperous life, and we are certain that this gem will continue making us proud and bring fame to country in the field of cue sports for many more years to come!
