Sumit Talwar was born on 6th February 1983 in Chandigarh.
He won the 2010 Indian National 8 ball Pool Championship. He reached to quarterfinals in 9 ball pool championship in 2006 Doha Asian games.
He was ranked IInd in Indian National 8 ball pool championship in 2011.
He started his career at the age of 18. He was in top 8 in 2004 National U-21 Billiards Championship. In no time he became one of top pool players in India with his consistent performance.
He finished runner-up in national 9 ball pool championship in 2012 losing to Rafath Habib. He also displayed good quality pool in National 8 ball pool championship in 2012 but lost to Sandeep Gulati in the Final.
In 2013 national (9 ball pool) he showed his proficiency in pool and beat Kamal Chawla in the finals to lift the trophy.
He is equally adapt to the game of snooker. He earned his place in Wild Card Round of Indian Open Snooker 2015 in Mumbai through Qualification tournament in Pune but lost to England’s Adam Duffy 4-0 in the wild card round.
