Sandeep Gulati of Delhi had a wonderful outing at the Nationals when he made two century breaks of 104 and 122 beating Shoib Khan of West Bengal 3 - 1 in the process. Sandeep Gulati (Del) beat Shoib Khan (WB) 3 - 1 (111(104), 01), (56, 23), (47, 64), (123(122), 0).

In an absolute thriller which went to the wire Rahul Sachdev managed to beat Saket Sourav 3 - 2 (105, 4), (134, 3), (15, 54), (66, 68) and (62, 19). Rahul started the proceedings with two mammoth runs of 86 and 120. Then he slowed down and his opponent made to two all. Finally, Rahul heaved a sigh of relief easily winning the last frame.

Alok Kumar of PSPB lost to Pandurangaiah of Andhra Pradesh with the later scoring 3 - 1 (62, 56), (34, 73), (81, 53), and (68, 18). Alok Kumar was embroiled in controversy with the referee Ishmit Malik on more than a couple of occasions. The referee refused to relent and that apparently disturbed Alok Kumar equilibrium. After the match, Alok had a hearty laugh as shown in the picture to display his magnanimity.
