19 MORE MAXIMUMS REQUIRED FOR £1 MILLION BONUS!
With one maximum break made so far during the 2019/20 season, 19 more 147s are needed to trigger the new £1 million bonus.
As announced by World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn in May, the 147 bonus has been introduced this season. If there are 20 (or more) maximums during the season, the £1 million will be shared between the players who made 147s.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has made 15 maximums – more than any other player
A player making more than one of those 20 would receive a proportional share, for example, if he made two 147s and there were 20 in total, he would receive £100,000. This replaces the previous ‘rolling prize’ system.
The only 147 so far this season came from Tom Ford during the International Championship qualifiers. Ford won the £6,000 high break prize at that event, as there is now no distinction between the qualifying round and TV stages in terms of the high break prizes, while those prizes have been increased across the whole tour this season.
With the China Championship qualifiers now underway in Barnsley, could we see more 147s flying in and progress towards the required total of 20? Maximums made in any of these events count towards the total:
World Cup
Riga Masters
World Open
Shanghai Masters
Indian Open
China Championship
English Open

Championship League
Northern Ireland Open
UK Championship
Scottish Open
The Masters
