Burden Makes First 147

Alfie Burden joined snooker’s 147 club by making his first maximum at the Coral English Open on Tuesday night.
World number 65 Burden made his perfect break in the sixth frame of his first round match against Daniel Wells to tie the score at 3-3, though Wells ended up winning 4-3.
By potting 15 reds with blacks and clearing the colours, the 39-year-old Londoner put himself in line for a £10,000 147 bonus plus the £2,000 high break prize, as long as the maximum is not equalled this week in Manchester.
It’s the 122nd 147 in snooker history and fourth of the season after one from Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, one from Stephen Maguire and one from Shaun Murphy.
