HIGGINS CLINCHES GUANGZHOU PLACE

John Higgins edged out Andy Hicks 5-4 at China Championship qualifying in Barnsley to book his place in the final stages.
Four-time World Champion Higgins led 4-3, before a superb break of 104 from 1995 Crucible semi-finalist Hicks set up a decider.
Higgins showed his customary grit to secure the win, firing in a fine run of 106 to book his place in Guangzhou.
Northern Ireland’s world number 81 Jordan Brown recorded an impressive 5-3 win over 2015 World Champion Stuart Bingham.
From 3-2 down, Brown won three frames on the bounce without conceding a point to emerge the victor. He compiled a break of 94 in the decisive frame to get himself over the line.
Switzerland’s Alexander Ursenbacher won a hard-fought contest with Ali Carter 5-4. While Joe O’Connor came from 3-1 down to beat Michael White 5-3.
