IN-FORM MAGUIRE THROUGH TO CHINA

Stephen Maguire made two centuries and five more breaks over 50 as he beat Jamie O’Neill 6-1 in the International Championship qualifiers.
Scotland’s Maguire fired runs of 51, 60, 129, 50, 61, 86 and 108 as he booked a place in the final stages in Daqing in August.
Kyren Wilson had a much tougher test against tour rookie Brandon Sargeant but came through 6-4. From 2-0 down, Wilson took five of the next six frames with top breaks of 50, 54 and 63 to lead 5-3. Sargeant pulled one back with a 107 before world number eight Wilson sealed victory in frame ten.
Iran’s top player Hossein Vafaei made a century in the decider to edge out Dominic Dale 6-5. Dale fought from 4-1 and 5-3 down to 5-5, only for his opponent to win it with a break of 100.
Matthew Stevens compiled runs of 58, 57, 91, 73 and 52 in a 6-2 defeat of Kishan Hirani, while Tom Ford’s fourth career 147 helped him beat Fraser Patrick 6-1.
