LAST CHANCE SALOON FOR Q SCHOOL HOPEFULS
Thursday is the final day of 2018 Q School, with 16 players chasing the four remaining two-year World Snooker Tour cards.
All players surviving into the final day need to win two more matches to earn a place on the pro circuit for 2018/19 and 2019/20.
Among those still in the field are Malaysia’s Thor Chuan Leong, who progressed past the last 32 courtesy of a 4-1 defeat of Kristjan Helgason. He will now face Ireland’s Greg Casey, who scored an impressive 4-3 win over Jamie Cope. In the first two events, all eight players earning tour cards have been on the pro tour before, and Casey is one of those looking to buck that trend on the final day.
Lancashire’s Farakh Ajaib is also hoping to turn pro for the first time. He beat Anthony Jeffers 4-2 in the last 32 and will now meet China’s Fang Xiongman.
Others in action on Thursday will include former world number 24 Michael Judge, India’s Himanshu Jain, James Cahill and Chinese pair Chen Zhe and Wang Yuchen.
