SCOTLAND REACH WORLD CUP FINAL

Scotland are through to the Beverly World Cup final after defeating China A 4-1 in Wuxi.
The Scottish duo of four-time World Champion John Higgins and five-time ranking event winner Stephen Maguire will compete in the final as a partnership for the second time. They reached the showpiece match in 2015, but suffered a surprise loss to China B.
Scotland will face either England or China B for a share of the $200,000 winner’s cheque and the World Cup title.
It was a disappointing loss for China’s Ding Junhui and Yan Bingtao. Defeat ends Ding’s hopes of securing a third World Cup win this week, having already been victorious in the event twice alongside Liang Wenbo.
Maguire got Scotland off the to perfect start today, seeing off teenage star Yan to take the opening frame. Higgins then fired in a break of 65 to beat Ding and put the Scots 2-0 up.
A superb century run of 123 from Yan in the doubles cut the Chinese arrears in half. However, Scotland weren’t to be denied, claiming the following two singles frames to emerge 4-1 victors.
