TRUMP JOINS 700 CLUB

Judd Trump made the 700th-century break of his career during his BetVictor Championship League Winners’ Group match against Anthony McGill on Wednesday.

Breaks of 127 in the first frame and 122 in the decider helped Trump to a 3-2 win over McGill and took his career tally of tons to 701. He joins Ronnie O’Sullivan (1,045), John Higgins (790), Stephen Hendry (775) and Neil Robertson (706) as the only players to cross the 700 marks. World Champion Trump, age 30, is the youngest player to reach that milestone.

Earlier in the day, Trump beat Graeme Dott 3-2 with a run of 100 in the deciding frame and saw off Scott Donaldson 3-1 with a top break of 114.

The Winners’ Group runs on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing together the seven winners of the groups staged so far. At the end of the round-robin phase, the top four players will go into the semi-finals, with the champion to receive the trophy and earn a place in the Champion of Champions later this year.

Robertson joined Trump in winning three out of three matches, beating Stuart Bingham 3-1, Gary Wilson 3-1 and Anthony McGill 3-2.
