TRUMP RALLIES TO REDUCE FU LEAD

Marco Fu leads Judd Trump 5-4 after the opening session of the Ladbrokes Players Championship in Llandudno. There's plenty at stake this evening, with Trump looking to end a three match losing streak in ranking finals. Meanwhile, if Fu can pick up the £125,000 top prize, it will be the biggest payday of his career.
Trump looked to impose himself on the match early on, as he opened the tie with a break of 83 to take a 1-0 lead. The match was then turned on it's head by two long range plants. The first of those went in at pace, but the white landed favourably and allowed Fu to draw level with a break of 53. A remarkably similar shot in the next frame afforded the 39-year-old the opportunity to string together a run of 73 and take the lead at 2-1. Although Trump managed to draw level heading into the interval, Fu began to dominate the match, which was being carried out at a rapid pace. The last five frames were completed in just 48 minutes and it looked as if Fu would be charging towards a significant lead going into this evening.
Runs of 67, 48, 39 and 83 saw the world number nine move 5-2 up. Trump seemed out of sorts having missed several straightforward pots. However, the Juddernaut dramatically turned on the style in the final two frames of the session making consecutive century breaks of 136 and 115 to set up a huge evening of snooker. The first to ten frames takes home the title.
