Zhou Yuelong Makes Early Running in Championship League Group 1
Zhou Yuelong tops Group 1 of the Championship League at the halfway stage after recording three wins from his opening four matches in Coventry.
The young Chinese is taking part in the tournament that’s played behind closed doors for the first time in his career but recorded victories over Ryan Day, Mark King, and Michael Holt to move a step closer to the play-offs.
Four of the seven players will reach the semi-finals following the conclusion of the round-robin phase on Wednesday with the overall champion advancing to the Winners’ Group in March.
Day, the runner-up in the 2017 Championship League, lies just behind Zhou with two wins from his opening fixtures alongside Anthony Hamilton and Stephen Maguire.
Kyren Wilson, King, and Holt all only managed one victory from their three encounters on Wednesday so will need to discover an improvement if they are to reach the knockouts.
Welshman Day’s 145 against Wilson currently stands as the highest break of the group.
