Pankaj Advani Won 22nd world title
One of India’s most notable sportsperson Pankaj Advani extended his tally of world titles to 22. He won a fourth straight final in 150 up format at IBSF World Billiards Championship. Just like each year, he brought a world trophy to home this year too. He has been consistent in bringing out trophy even since he returned from a professional stint in 2014. While talking about billiards, he has consistently won 54th title in the last six years.
The champion stated- it’s such a touch and go format and so unpredictable that winning this four years on the trot, and five out of last six has been extremely special.
On his winning of 22nd gold medal, Advani said, Every time I participate in the world championship, one thing is clear- my motivation to excel has not diminished. This win is evidence to the fact that my hunger and fire are both well and truly alive.
Pankaj’s winning of cue sports more than anyone else in the world has made him the most renowned cuesit of all time. Pankaj Advani has been acquiring the global title every year since 2003. Pankaj Advani claimed his victory by beating local favorite Myanmar’s Nay Thway Oo; Oo settled for silver again just like the previous year.
Match ended up in a single mode, the identical score was 6-2, just as it was in 2018. Before this, Advani got a hat-trick of hat tricks in billiards; he simultaneously won the world, Asian and Indian National Championship titles in 2005, 2008, 2012, 2017and 2019.
For his outstanding achievements, he has been awarded most significant sports and civilian awards, he received Arjuna Award in 2004, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2006, Padma Shree in 2009 and Padma Bhushan in 2018.
