Tarun Chandra : A great personality and a great sportsperson
Tarun Chandra, the son of Sheel Chandra, who left us on 5th Oct. 2019, was a great Indian billiard player. He learned the rudiments of billiards from his father and struck a purple patch very quickly in his career.
Tarun played for his state and won the state title in billiards, cracking a run of 143 against Subhash sood. He made his mark at Calcutta national in 1979, where he completely tarnished the reputation of unbeatable O.B. Agarwal crushing him with 4-0.
He was a great personality and a great sportsperson who made progress in cue sports by hitting a century break in front of a captivating audience.
Both his son Manan and daughter-in-law Anuja Thakur are also very good players of cue sports and represent India on various international tournaments.
Tarun was a great personality, a great sportsperson, and a perfect gentleman. He was a great benevolent and generous man who came forward for the cause of cue sports. May his soul rest in peace.
